False Prophets - The Lord Jesus Christ predicted that in the last days "false christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect - if that were possible". (Mat. 24 v.24) Although many false prophets have arisen, seeking to deceive human beings, and though many exist in this present day, there has never been an adequate fulfillment to our Lord's prediction quite like that which will culminate during the Tribulation. Since humanity is incurably religious, a world dictator must provide people with an outlet for their religious inclinations.
False Prophets Source is Supernatural and Dangerous - Moses' declared, "For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice witchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do so. The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen, you shall listen to him" (Deut. 18 v.14-15 NASB) Moses knew the people would need prophets to reveal relevant things about the future and to give direction from God, especially in times of great stress.
God, through Moses, commands them not to go to prophets who get their message from the various forms of the occult. But they were to listen to only the Israelite He chose to be His prophet. Nothing was more catastrophic for the Israelite than to receive a false prophecy and then to act on the wrong information. God warns them that the reason he judged the nations that were there before them was because they sought to know the future by means of the occult.
There has always been false teachers, for that is Satan's way of distorting the truths of God. Jesus called him a deceiver and a liar, declaring that he had been a liar from the very beginning. That is why we have so many cults, religions, and other ...isms that claim a Christian basis for their beliefs. If Satan cannot get people to disbelieve or rebel against God altogether, he will get them hooked on some false doctrine to lead them astray. There is nothing new about that.
Remember Jim Jones's followers in Guyana in 1978? David Koresh and the Branch Davidians in Texas in 1993 or the Heaven's Gate group in southern Calif. In 1997. But destroying lives is only one form of end-time deception. What about destroying biblical faith? As our Lord said, "Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell" (Mat 10 v.28) As tragic as is the loss of life, it is worse to lose one's soul. Deception is expected to increase the closer we come to the last days.
Modern college professors ridicule those who believe in the "conspiratorial view of history," which is to deny both the events of history and the power of Satan to accomplish his devious attempts. Who can truthfully deny that he is subverting society by destroying Christianity in order to set up his blasphemous religion headed by the Antichrist, whom men will worship instead of God?
Who can question that he is trying to destroy all national governments in favor of a one-world government, which he will head through the beast or Antichrist.
